Verification

Three steps, none of which involve a DNS record. What each one proves, and what none of them do.

The three steps

1

Claim the listing

Proves: That somebody is willing to attach their name to this product's page.

Does not prove: That they work there. On its own, a claim is a request, not a credential.

2

Confirm your email

Proves: That the address is real and reachable, so a revocation notice will actually arrive.

Does not prove: Anything about the product. It proves we can contact you.

3

Embed the widget

Proves: Control of the product's website. You cannot put a link in a footer you do not administer.

Does not prove: That the product is any good. Nothing on this page measures quality.

The widget

Paste this into your footer, your about page, or anywhere else on your own domain. Replace your-tool with your listing’s slug, your dashboard generates the exact snippet with it already filled in.

<a href="https://aitoolsrepo.com/tools/your-tool">
  <img src="https://cdn.aitoolsrepo.com/badge/your-tool.svg"
       alt="Featured on AI Tools Repo" width="200" height="54" />
</a>

We fetch your site, look for an anchor whose destination resolves to your listing, and record where we found it. The check re-runs weekly. Because we serve the image ourselves, we also see it load every time somebody visits your page, which is a live signal in between crawls.

What verification unlocks

  • The Verified mark on your listing card and detail page
  • A dofollow outbound link on a free listing
  • The ability to publish a changelog and answer questions
  • Deals and offers attached to your listing

GitHub identity, optional

One OAuth flow, and it puts a second mark on your listing. It is worth doing for developer tools, where the audience actually checks, and worth skipping otherwise.

We removed revenue-band, traffic-band and government-ID verification from the roadmap entirely rather than leaving them marked Coming. A permanent “coming soon” is just a claim with a delay attached.

What a Verified mark is not

Verification proves control of a domain or an account. It is not an endorsement of the product. A verified listing can still be for something that does not work, is badly supported, or shuts down next month. We check who is speaking, not whether what they built is any good, and a directory that blurred those two would be selling something it cannot deliver.
